I make this all the time. I cook it a lot longer than the recipe calls for, till the chicken is falling apart. Gives the flavor more depth. My family loves it! Sometimes I add coleslaw instead of pickle. Very good.

I'm perplexed - made the recipe as written but doubled everything. I really liked that it was fast and easy. But I don't understand all the high ratings for taste. I won't make it again. The sauce was pretty much one note - lacked any depth. I honestly think I'd be better off with using store bought. Oh well...Two stars for ease of prep.

Unbelievably easy to put together. I was doubtful ...however we were pleasantly surprised. Chicken breasts were cooked and shredded in less than 30 minutes. It was tasty and I do understand why several reviewers want to work with the sauce. Followed the recipe exactly but next time I will add some liquid smoke and maybe more chili powder.

I made this for dinner and it was delicious, quick, and easy. I used 2.35 lbs of chicken, so I quadrupled the sauce in the recipe. Probally would have been fine to have just tripled the recipe. We had it with a side of slaw and homemade buns. I will definitely be making this again!!

4 and 1/2 stars for an easy weeknight chicken fix! Doubled the sauce, and added 1/2 tsp onion powder. Used the advice from RedandCubby about less chili for small taste buds & used chicken breasts in the crockpot. Short on time, I browned my chicken, adding a few tsps of the sauce when nearly done for some caramelized flavor. Into the crockpot on low it all went, with the rest of the sauce, for about 4 hours on low. I added a tbsp of water twice to keep the sauce saucy in my large crock. The Mr. And little Ms. enjoyed it very much.

I make this in my slow cooker with boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Simply mix the sauce ingredients and pour over 3-4 chicken breasts and cook on low for 7-8 hours. I decrease the amount of chili powder to make this kid-friendly, and my children love it. When make in the slow cooker, this recipe is delicious and only requires five minutes of prep time.

This will not taste like grilled chicken, for sure. Nevertheless, I was undecided between 4 and 5 stars, because what it lacks in 'grill' flavor it more than makes up for in terms of how incredibly easy it is. I did use chicken breast, and quadrupled the sauce for about 1.5 pounds of meat. I added chipotle for the smokiness and to add a bit of heat. I hope it freezes well. I will certainly make it again: lots of flavor for very little hassle.

I was not a fan of this sauce. Cooking Light has a much better recipe for pulled chicken sandwiches, though it requires more effort since the chicken must be grilled first. The next time I will try making the sauce for the better pulled chicken recipe and cooking the chicken in it directly like this recpie calls for. Also, I doubled the sauce as many reviewers suggested and it was way too much sauce for my liking (with 16 oz chicken).

This is ridiculously easy to make. Wish I thought of. A great weeknight or fast Sat lunch recipe. I did some adjustments - a bit more chili powder. Would add less mustard next time but very good. You could use your own favorite BBQ sauce but sometimes some of mine are so corn syrupy thick - this was a nice consistency.

Good, solid, weeknight recipe. I doubled the sauce ingredients, as prior raters suggested, and used 16 oz. chicken breast tenderloins. I didn't have cider vinegar, so used red wine vinegar. This sauce will be my new homemade BBQ sauce! Would add about 4 more oz. of chicken, for a total of about 20 oz. Cooked it in a crockpot for on low for 5 hrs. Served red potatoes and BBQ beans with it.

I couldn't believe how easy this was to make - and tastes terrific! I used a Penzey's chili powder that had a little extra spice in it, which was perfect for the "heat effect". I did make extra sauce for the chicken, though, as toward the end of the cooking time the sauce seemed to disappear from the pan. Butternut squash oven fries would go really well with the sauce, too!

A quick and delicious recipe. After reading reviewer comments I used part regular and part smoked chili powder to add some smoky flavor. Also, I simmered with the pot uncovered for about 5 minutes to thicken the sauce. The flavors were well balanced with just enough sweetness and spice. The whole family really enjoyed. Next time, I want to try the Mango slaw that accompanies this recipe.

Nothing too special, but it is quick, easy and cheap. I thought the flavor was a bit underwhelming; maybe adding a bit of liquid smoke would make it taste more barbecue-y. In any event, this would likely be a very good recipe for a busy family to make. Tasty enough for the parents but also mild enough that most kids would probably like it. One thing I would suggest is making a barbecue sauce out of the cooking liguid. When you remove the chicken, it will be fairly liquidy. I brought the cooking liquid to a low boil and added a cornstarch and water mixture to thicken it up. I think I used a TBSP of water and a TBSP of cornstarch, but it may have been a bit more or less. I'd recommend taking the shredded chicken, putting it into a bowl and pouring a half cup or more of the sauce on top and mixing it up. The other comment I'd add is that the Mango coleslaw was surprisingly good.

Great recipe. The homemade "bbq" type sauce is wonderful. I substituted molasses for maple syrup because I was trying not to buy extras, but it really did still come out pretty good. The pickles set off the sweet-smokey chicken. I only used two 6 oz chicken breasts, but kept the sauce portions the same (I love dipping!). The accompanying mango coleslaw highlights the meal perfectly-- my husband actually asked for seconds and he hates cabbage! Worth making again.
